Ok, we all know that I mean sunscreen but does ANY TODDLER like having sunscreen applied? Maybe it just needs a new name? Funscreen. Like when I call bathtime, splashtime. No?
MAYDAY MAYDAY: Does anyone have any ideas on how to apply sunscreen to a wiggly ToddlerMonster in a fun, laughter-filled manner? Or at least in a way that gets full coverage with zero tears?
I ordered the Target Baby Box last April ($5) with some great intentions of reviewing products for all of you wonderful people that take the time to read my little blog. I wanted to give something back to you, even if that something is just more of my opinions. I did not do that. Mostly because I’m lazy. But I did discover a wonderful baby sunscreen through that Baby Box so it was totally worth it.
I highly recommend the Aveeno Baby Continuous Protection Sensitive Skin Lotion Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 50. I have read a lot of scary articles this past spring about all of the poisonous crap in a lot of sunscreens out there in the world. I even found out that my SPF 15 face lotion was most likely going to kill me.
MAYDAY MAYDAY: Does anyone have and love a grownup face moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15?
I used the entire tiny bottle of Aveeno Sunscreen that came in the Target Baby Box and just recently had to replenish ($10.49). It goes on not-too-thick and it’s not at all greasy, but it definitely works. We have been in the sun quite a bit this summer and my little pale blond super white ghost baby has not had a single sunburn. Babystar is the whitest little marshmallow ever, so this stuff is legit!
Here’s a spf15 face cream that has organic ingredients! I haven’t tried it yet because it’s not a product I need. https://jennpoupard.poofyorganics.com/products/1168-flawless-face-daily-moisturizer-wspf-15.aspx

Babystar needs to chill out and stop wiggling because mama is keeping cancer away!! My kids pretty much put up with the process…
For my face, I use Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer for Acne-prone Skin, which is SPF 30. It’s worked for me so far! I used it under my mineral makeup.

Thanks for the tip! I looked it up and the active ingredients are Avobenzone 3%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 7%. I don’t even know what those are and I am NOT a scientist or a doctor but this spring and summer I keep reading that we should only use sunscreens with the active ingredients or zinc oxide titanium dioxide.
You do you, obvs, but I just wanted you to be aware. Also, please tell me if it is BS because I honestly don’t know. I’m just scared of skin cancer. Laura Linney was very convincing in The Big C.

Ooh, okay, so avobenzone is bad, too? I thought just oxybenzone ,but it makes sense that both benzones are bad. Duh, me. Thank you for the heads up. That was a good article; I have read her site a bit, and although I like it I haven’t made my own sunscreen yet. Maybe just apply something safe (we use Thinkbaby for us and the kids) under your makeup?? Reapplying might be an issue, though.

Since posting this, I bought Burts Bees daytime moisturizer with spf. It has zinc oxide and titanium dioxide and some flowers or whatever. I’ve used it exactly one time but so far it seems pretty cool. Just give a little bit of a greasy look but I prefer to think of it as young and dewey faced. 🙃

That’s a hip look, right?! Sounds like a good product – I’ll check it out on one of my many Target runs…..

I have tried expensive face lotions and nothing has ever been any better than Aveeno ultra-calming daily moisturizer. It is gentle and has an spf 15.

Kym, thanks! And now I’m a bit upset at Aveeno. Their Baby sunscreen is mineral based but they apparently don’t care for us Olds. The active ingredients are Avobenzone (3%), Octinoxate (7.5%), Octisalate (2%).
As I said (verbatim but just in case you don’t want to scroll xoxo) above, I don’t even know what those are and I am NOT a scientist or a doctor but this spring and summer I keep reading that we should only use sunscreens with the active ingredients or zinc oxide titanium dioxide.

So like, maybe it is all a bunch of lies or maybe it’s legit?
